On Thursday, Uhuru said the constitution is clear regarding the removal of the IEBC commissioners from office and those calling for protests are doing it for their own political mileage.

The Opposition has been protesting in its quest to remove the IEBC commissioners on Monday every week, and earlier this week, Cord leader Raila Odinga said they had written a letter to Uhuru seeking national dialogue of the issue among others, something President refuted during his tour in North Eastern region.

Uhuru said the IEBC is a constitutional body and therefore those having issues with it should follow  due process rather than calling for dialogue which he said he will not give in to the opposition pressure.

The Head of State rather urged Cord to use the parliament in solving the issue and shun from using demonstration as the way forward which he said would not work.

"Our constitution clearly stipulates the right path to follow in removing IEBC commissioners and therefore I urge Cord to use the Parliament in this issue instead of calling for protests which will not work in return," said Uhuru.

Raila and his co-principals says they have no trust in the commission to conduct a free and fair election in 2017 and that the supreme power in the constitution belongs to the citizens and that is why they have been calling for demonstrations.

The move, however, had earlier been fueled by the IEBC rejection of Okoa Kenya signatures which Cord had termed it malicious.
