President Kenyatta will now visit the Ukambani region starting June 10 to June 13, 2016 according to State House Spokesperson Manoah Esipisu.

In a statement to newsrooms on Wednesday, Esipisu said that the new dates were reached on following a consultative meeting between President Kenyatta and 12 Members of Parliament (MPs) from Ukambani region on Wednesday morning.

The State House Spokesperson said that the three-day visit to Ukambani by President Kenyatta is anchored on development.

He stated that Uhuru will visit Machakos on June 10 before proceeding to Kitui on June 12 and Makueni County on June 13 respectively.

“The Head of State will be in Ukambani for a three-day visit starting June 10 to June 13, 2016 where he will launch various development projects,” said Esipisu.

Esipisu said that on June 13, Uhuru will attend an inter-denominational church service in Kitui County.

Apart from launching development projects, Uhuru is expected to meet with professionals, youths and citizens in the three counties.

The Ukambani visit by Uhuru had been postponed last week move analysts linked to wrangles pitting some Ukambani leaders.

Uhuru had been expected in Ukambani the coming weekend before the visit was postponed.

Cord Co-principal Kalonzo Musyoka had said that he will be among the people to welcome Uhuru into the region a move that elicited claims that Musyoka was heading to Jubilee government.

The visit by Uhuru is seen by political analysts as a move to woe Ukambani locals ahead of the 2017 general elections.
