This is after she defected Opposition's ODM, whose party leader is Raila Odinga.

Katana backed governor Ali Hassan Joho's election through ODM in 2013, and have been working closely.

During her defection, Katana cited frustration from her boss, saying she needed political freedom.

Her entry into Jubilee adds numbers to the party in Mombasa, given that the area is perceived to be an Opposition stronghold.

Uhuru welcomed her to the party, and vowed to ensure Jubilee remains firm and strong, ahead of the August 8 polls.

Uhuru was flanked by Nairobi Women MP Rachel Shebesh, Kilifi North MP Gideon Mung'aro, area gubernatorial hopeful Suleiman Shahbal, among other Jubilee leaders.
