President Uhuru Kenyatta has issued a stern warning to groups attempting to sabotage Kenya Ports Authority Managing Director Catherine Mturi-Wairi and said they would face the wrath of their misdeeds.
Speaking during a tour mission at the port on Saturday, Kenyatta said that he was already aware of people frustrating the efforts of the new boss in the fear that she would interfere with their corrupt deals at the port.
“I’m aware of what is going on here. But let me warn you that you will be the first to go home before she is shown the door,” warned Kenyatta.
Mturi-Wairi was in June confirmed at the helm of the port’s management to replace Gichiri Ndua who was sacked together with others in efforts to curb corruption and drug cartels at the port.
At the same function, Kenyatta revealed that the government had formed a special police unit to help fight corruption, drug trafficking and passage of contraband goods at the port.
