President Uhuru Kenyatta may have plotted a coup, which otherwise failed following Supreme Court decision to annul his victory, says David Ndii, a senior opposition strategist.
In a series of rallies, Uhuru accused judiciary of subverting the will of the people by failing to order recount of presidential elections to ascertain the victor.
And Ndii, an economic advisor of opposition leader Raila Odinga, alleges that Uhuru may have wanted to use the loophole, to forcefully impose himself as duly elected president.
“My advice to Kikuyu hegemony especially Uhuru is that your coup plot failed,” he said, adding that courts were at liberty to make decisions based on available evidence.
He added:”Just get over it because tantrums and Public Relations for a recount cannot turn back the clock. You cannot dictate the courts.”
An agitated Uhuru on Thursday said, Supreme Court judges were lucky that he respects the rule of law and otherwise he would have defied the ruling ‘to protect’ the will of people.
Supreme Court judges, in their majority ruling, averted that IEBC failed to hold simple, clear, transparent and verifiable elections in line with the country’s constitution.
