Ugunja Member of Parliament Opiyo Wandayi has asked Siaya residents to grant President Uhuru Kenyatta a rousing welcome when he visits the county.

Uhuru is expected to visit the Siaya on Thursday, after postponing an earlier tour of the region due to unavoidable circumstances.

Siaya is perceived to be a home turf of ODM’s party leader Raila Odinga.

The ODM legislator however cautioned the Jubilee party leader not to expect any votes from the Siaya voters.

Wandayi noted that there is no need of jeering the president, instead he urged the locals to save their energy and use it to vote Uhuru out come August 8.

“It will be of no meaning to heckle Uhuru in Siaya and not to turn up to vote. You will not have helped Raila and NASA at large. It is better to save that energy to vote Uhuru out,’ Wandayi is quoted by the Star.

Siaya governor Cornel Rasaga also assured Uhuru of a warm reception and promised to avoid politics when he tours the region.

“Raila received a warm reception during his visit to Kiambu county, which is the president’s home. We therefore need to welcome the president,” said Rasanga.

Rasanga and Wandayi however claimed some aspirants have hired youths to dress in ODM t-shirts so as to cause chaos during the meeting in order to paint a bad picture on Raila.

They have called on police to be on the look out.
