President Uhuru Kenyatta has welcomed five Garissa County politicians into Jubilee party after they defected from Raila Odinga’s Orange Democratic Movement (ODM).

President Kenyatta at State House received Dadaab MP Mohamed Dahir Duale, Garissa County assembly speaker and three Members of Garissa County Assembly.

Kenyatta said his main goal is to unite all the communities in Kenya and the Ajuran community from Garissa joining Jubilee is part of the agenda.

He said the national government will work together with the county government of Garissa in ensuring the residents benefit from development projects.

“The government will transform the Garissa County as it is doing in other parts of the country. My goal is to unite all the communities in Kenya,” said the President.

MP Dahir said that the defection is a sign that his constituents are willing to work with the Jubilee government.

Dahir said he left the opposition because his constituents are convinced that Jubilee is the better option adding that for the past four years the jubilee government has worked closely with the region and has promised to do more.

“For the first time, our people have been given IDs which they have sought and waited for decades. Road construction in Garissa will change Garissa forever,” the MP said.

The President said the Jubilee government has constructed the Garissa-Modangashe road adding that others will also be built in the county.

MP Dahir requested the President to consider works on Garissa-Daadab-Liboi road as well.
