The President emphasized that dialogue and unity among communities were key in accelerating development in the Northern Kenya region.

President Kenyatta was speaking Tuesday at State House, Nairobi, when he met a delegation of leaders from the Ajuran Community who were led by Wajir North Member of Parliament Ibrahim Abdi Saney.

The President has in the recent past also met leaders from the Degodia and Ogaden communities from Wajir County to discuss peace, unity and development.

“I am confident that through your unity and working with other communities, you will make wider strides in development,” President Kenyatta said.

The Head of State assured the leaders of his Government’s commitment to working with them in fast-tracking development projects in the county, noting that his Administration has already done much in the areas of electricity connectivity, road construction and cash transfers.

President Kenyatta especially applauded the cash transfer program, saying it has played a major part in the Government’s drought mitigation efforts.

“The cash transfer program has ensured that no life has been lost despite the prolonged drought,” President Kenyatta said.

The President also spoke on security and assured that the Government will deal firmly with criminals.

The Wajir leaders thanked President Kenyatta for the development projects initiated in their county.
