As standoff between NASA and IEBC on the reforms at the commission ahead of the October 26 repeat presidential poll that is now threatening to affect the election, former Budalang'i MP Ababu Namwamba maintains that President Uhuru Kenyatta will remain in power even if the poll will not be conducted.

NASA and other political and legal pundits have warned that the country risks facing constitutional crisis should the IEBC fail to conduct the poll within 60 days of the Supreme Court ruling that nullified the August 8 presidential election.

Speaking during Jubilee's 'Mbele Iko Sawa' campaign in Murang'a on Wednesday, the former ODM Secretary General said that the law shields Uhuru's Presidency saying that the President will only vacate office after a new one is sworn in

"Uhuru will be President of Kenya with or without October 26 election, because if it (election) will be conducted, he (Uhuru) will win since he has the numbers. If no election is done, he will still be President until a new one is sworn in,"Namwamba said.
