Uasin Gishu governor Jackson Mandago has called for peace among Kenyans even as presidential candidates prepare to go back to the campaign trail following the nullification of President Uhuru Kenyatta's re-election.

Mandago said he respects the verdict of the majority of the Supreme Court judges.

In a statement to the press, Friday, the Jubilee governor noted that they were ready to go back to the people and seek for votes afresh.

He, however, noted that the August 8 polls were free and fair and President Kenyatta had won in a free and fair contest.

"In my opinion President Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy William Samoei Ruto won this elections and they will win again and again," Mandago said in the statement.

"I wish to call on all Kenyans to maintain peace and continue with their day to day activities as we head back to campaign for our presidential candidate. The powers to elect leaders is with the people of Kenya and so we will come back to you the great people of this nation and ask for your votes," he added.
