Mavoko MP Patrick Makau says that Jubilee MPs move to amend the election laws will not help President Uhuru Kenyatta retain power in the repeat presidential election.

The Wiper MP says that President Kenyatta will still lose the election even if the election laws are amended.

Speaking in Machakos Town on Monday, Makau said that the push by Jubilee MPs to amend election laws is an act of impunity allegedly meant to prolong President Uhuru Kenyatta’s presidency.

“Jubilee MPs move to amend the election laws is unconstitutional and driven by hunger to retain power,” he said as quoted by Kituionoline.com

Makau accused Jubilee MPs of being selfish and disregarding the interest of Kenyans. He accused Jubilee of using its tyranny of numbers to infringe on Kenyans constitutional rights.

The Mavoko  Wiper lawmaker asked Kenyans to reject the election laws if Jubilee MPs succeed with the amendments.

Jubilee MPs last week introduced changes to the election laws in what they say will create a level playing field ahead of the repeat presidential election.

NASA has since disputed the move by Jubilee lawmakers saying that it will not participate in the presidential election if Jubilee does not drop the amendments.

The opposition has announced weekly protests (Monday and Friday) to protest the election laws amendments and to also to push for reforms at the IEBC before the repeat presidential election.
