The Bunyore community has assured President Uhuru Kenyatta of support in the August polls, citing the development projects implemented across Vihiga County.

A goodwill delegation from Luanda and Emuhaya constituencies pledged to walk with President Kenyatta and the Jubilee Party on the path of development when they paid him a visit on Wednesday at State House, Nairobi.

At the meeting where a number of defections were announced, members of the delegation from Vihiga County said their community could no longer afford to remain in the opposition which has no interest of improving their welfare.

President Kenyatta welcomed their decision to work with the ruling party that stands for unity and progress.

“Our main aim is to unite the country and we thank you for joining us on this journey to transform the country for the benefit of all Kenyans,” he said.

During the meeting, the development agenda of Luanda and Emuhaya, as well as the rest of Vihiga County, was discussed.

The President promised to visit Luanda and Emuhaya in the coming days, to meet local leaders, interact with residents, and inspect or commission various development projects.

Key among these is the switching on the streetlights for the busy Luanda market, to enable the bustling centre transact a 24-hour economy, and the laying of a foundation stone for a granite factory, seen as an investment that will change the economy of the area.

Within the delegation was former opposition ODM coordinator for Vihiga County George Muyela who defected to Jubilee, former Assistant Minister Sande Mukuna, as well as parliamentary aspirants George Atetwe, Caleb Ingolo and Professor Patrick Kenya.
