Unconfirmed reports indicate that security officers attached to opposition leader Raila Odinga and his running mate Kalonzo Musyoka have been withdrawn.
The two are embroiled in a tough tussle with President Uhuru Kenyatta over the repeat of presidential elections scheduled on October 26th.
A tweet from Philip Etale, ODM Director of Communication indicates that the two are no longer under the protection of the state security.
“Raila Odinga and Kalonzo Musyoka’s security withdrawn, redeployed to North Eastern,” Etale says in his tweet.
He adds:”Withdrawing of their security is the most ill advised thing, backward, outdated and archaic.”
The two NASA principals are expected to lead protests that aims at pushing for removal of a number of officials attached to IEBC.
Although they are entitled to security on the basis that they are candidate, neither the government nor any of them is yet to confirm the developing story.
