President Uhuru Kenyatta has called upon Lamu Governor Issa Timamy to join Jubilee as he seeks to defend his seat during the forthcoming general election.
Speaking on Thursday in Witu town during his of the region, President Uhuru asked Timamy to back his re-election, adding that he will initiate more projects in the region if he retains his seat. “Our objective is development and not just talk. What I want from Lamu leaders especially Governor Timamy and his people is for you to join Jubilee so that we can walk together to development,” said Uhuru, as quoted by Baraka FM.Uhuru asked Timamy to stop wasting time in the opposition and cross over to Jubilee in order to transform the lives of his people.Lamu East West Julius Ndegwa, his Lamu East counterpart Athman Shariff and Senator Abu Chiaba reitrated Uhuru’s sentiments by urging the governor to consider defecting to Jubilee before the next general poll. “We are calling on the governor to stop associating with the opposition and instead support Jubilee. We believe that if Jubilee wins again in the ballot, Lamu stands to benefit a lot,” said Ndegwa. On his part, Timamy said that he is ready to work with Jubilee to develop the region. “We will cooperate with the Jubilee government and as for support, we are calling on the president to come back in April so that we sit down and talk when he has time, then we will tell him what we feel as a county and we promise it will be good news,” said Timamy.
