State House is reportedly on the panicking mood following an NIS report that has indicated President Uhuru Kenyatta’s fading popularity in key battle grounds ahead of August elections.

Jubilee strategists earlier this year earmarked a number of regions among them Kisii, Nyamira, Narok, Trans Nzoia as tossups that should help Kenyatta recapture the seat.

But the report indicates that Jubilee is significantly losing support in a number of regions including its traditional backyards of Meru and North Eastern region.

“There is a report [NIS] that was released recently and it clearly shows that NASA is really giving Jubilee headache and that is a major concern,” said a source privy to operations around presidency.

“We are planning major campaigns in a number of those regions in the coming weeks. Hopefully, we can tilt the ground in our favor,” added the source, who spoke in confidence.

Among the regions NASA is said to be doing much better include Kisii, Nyamira, Narok, Kajiado, Marsabit, Garissa, Wajir, Isiolo and Samburu even after performing dismally in 2013 elections.

Kenyatta’s 2013 presidency was determined by close to 4,000 votes which helped him to surpass the 50 percent constitutional threshold.
