President Uhuru Kenyatta is still waiting to receive the name of Chief Justice nominee David Maraga days after announcement of his proposed appointment.

This has been confirmed by State House Spokesperson Manoah Esipisu who said that JSC is yet to hand over the name after making it public on Thursday. 

"The President is awaiting an official presentation of the name from JSC. Once he receives it , he will apply what is in his mind and as required by the law," said Esipisu. 

This comes as even the Judicial Service Commission plans to begin the search for the Deputy Chief Justice on Monday morning. 

Maraga was nominated by the JSC after emerging top.

The JSC will give president Uhuru the name where he will be required to present it to the national assembly. 

If the name is approved, the president will be required to appoint Maraga as the next CJ.

Maraga has received praised from leaders who said that he was the most suitable person to lead the Kenyan Judiciary.
