Politicians allied to President Uhuru Kenyatta on Tuesday had a rough moment in Ogembo when rowdy youths suspected to be opposition supporters attacked their convoy.

Both Kisii and Nyamira Counties with an approximated voter population of 900, 000 have been earmarked by Jubilee administration as tossups.

Senator Chris Obure, Nyaribabi Chache MP Richard Tong’i and youth leader Antony Kibagendi were forced to scamper to their safety when a battle ensued between NASA and Jubilee allied supporters.

Police from Ogembo were forced to lobe teargas to separate opposition supporters as Jubilee team got overpowered and cleared from the scene.

Although no casualties were reported, Obure’s care was badly smashed and he is believed to have sustained minor injuries.

It is not the first time Jubilee team has faced hostility in the perceived opposition stronghold given in October last year during a by election at Nyacheki, many government allied politicians had their cars stoned or were personally assaulted.

While President Uhuru Kenyatta is working closely with Obure, opposition leader Raila Odinga has entrusted Governor James Ongwae to take charge of campaigns.
