Barely a week after a section of Mt. Kenya leaders led by EX –Kiambu Governor William Kabogo called for dialogue between NASA and Jubilee; more leaders in Jubilee wing have joined the debate.
A political crisis is looming in the country with the opposition team under Raila Odinga insisting that they will not take part in October polls despite President Uhuru Kenyatta’s determination to have it take place.
“We have worked with Odinga in the past and we know his capabilities. Let us stop this dismissive attitude and invite him for talks,” said Oscar Sudi of Kapsaret.
With Odinga insisting that he is ready for dialogue our conducive environment for free and fair elections, Uhuru however, has dismissed the calls accusing Odinga of using backdoor means to get into government.
And vocal Nandi Hills MP Alfred Keter in a separate function at his constituency on Thursday, urged the two principals to hold urgent meeting to solve the stalemate.
“All communities live in my constituency. Let us unite our people and go to elections smiling. These are issues that can be solved.”
Similar calls were made by Baringo Governor Stanley Kiptis and his Meru counterpart Kiraitu Murungi, who plays a crucial role in Jubilee government.
Already, IEBC chairman Wafula Chebukati has warned that he may not be able to hold free and credible elections in the current political environment.
