Despite courting a number of political losers from Gusii region, President Uhuru Kenyatta's plot may have not worked to his satisfaction if IEBC records is anything to go by.
Prior to elections, Uhuru had reached out to a number of top politicians among them James Gesami, Nyambega Mose, Joseph Kiangoi and Chris Obure, formely stauch supporters of ODM.
They were to unite with a strong team lead by Charles Nyachae, Jimmy Angwenyi and Walter Nyambati to neutralize NASA's influence in Nyamira and Kisii Counties.
But in an election that Uhuru was running with minimal resistance following the withdrawal of Raila Odinga from the race.
In Nyamira for instance, Uhuru's score reduced from 102, 000 votes to a mere 84, 000 with the Kisii's score reducing from 175, 000 to 125, 000 in the repeat poll.
"Most of his catch were political rejects and did not have any influence on the ground," says political commentator Dismas Mokua.
The disastrous performance, Mokua adds, is an indication that the Gusii community largely supports Odinga despite traces of Uhuru's magnificent performance in August.
"I still believe that this is an ODM zone and there is not doubt about it. It will take long for Jubilee to dislodge them from the base."
