Nyeri Town MP Ngunjiri Wambugu's strong opposition to the 2022 presidential ambition of Deputy President William Ruto is setting him up against his Nyeri county colleagues.
Should he continue with his anti-Ruto remarks and campaigns, the area politicians said Wambugu is staring at a bleak political future as a loner as far as county politics were concerned.
Nyeri Senator Ephraim Maina and Nyeri Woman Representative Rahab Mukami led a section of MCAs in denouncing the vocal legislator saying Nyeri and Mt Kenya Region would be solidly behind Ruto come 2022.
MP Ngunjiri Wambugu's strong opposition to the 2022 presidential ambition of Deputy President William Ruto is setting him up against his Nyeri county colleagues.
Maina hailed the DP as the fulcrum of unity in Kenya without which the country risked going to to the dogs.
Also present during the fundraiser at Muruguru Catholic Church in Nyeri on Sunday, June 10, was Kikuyu MP Kimani Ichung’wa who has lately appeared as a dependable striker in Ruto's game plan.
Kimani vowed not to stop associating with the DP as he was focused on implementing Jubilee development agenda which he said would determine the choice of the country's future president.
But in a quick rejoinder, the besieged politician laughed off the threats while at the same time challenging his colleagues to secure Uhuru's legacy first before thinking about the 2022 arithmetics.
According to Ngunjiri, those campaigning for the DP were disrespecting President Uhuru Kenyatta. Ngunjiri said constant politicking was putting the country in unnecessary mood which could derail the president in achieving his agenda.
