Meru Governor Peter Munya has said that he has what it takes to beat Deputy President William Ruto during the 2022 general polls.
Munya said that his critics were wrong for dismissing his candidature
Munya was responding to Meru Senator Kiraitu Murungi's sentiments who said that the governor will be humiliated in the presidential race.
According to Munya, he has similar qualifications just like Ruto.
"What does Ruto have that I don't have? He is not more educated than I am."
He further dismissed Murungi's sentiments stating that the senator's opinion was not important.
He said he has not stood in Murungi's way should he have the same ambition.
"What is his problem? Why does he think Ruto is the only one who is capable?" he asked in Meru town on Thursday when he officiated the opening of a micro-finance training at the KPCU coffee mill.
Murungi said that if Munya were serious, he would have started campaigning by now.
Munya is seeking to defend his seat on a PNU ticket where he will face off with Kiraitu.
