Former Nominated MP Amina Abdalla could be termed as one of the unluckiest politicians in the country when it comes to elective politics.
The August 8 elections made it the third straight election that the Jubilee politician has lost in her entire political life which spans over 15 years now.A key supporter and defender of President Uhuru Kenyatta in Mombasa where opposition enjoys a huge following, Abdalla was first nominated to parliament in 2002 by KANU having been an integral member of Uhuru Kenyatta's campaign in his presidential bid.In 2007, she officially joined elective politics where she vied for the Kisauni MP seat on a KANU ticket but lost to ODM's Hassan Joho. However, she earned a second term in parliament as a nominated MP.Five years later, a determined Abdalla was back in the race for the Kisauni MP seat which had been vacated by Joho who was vying for Mombasa governor. She lost again to ODM's Rashid Bedzimba, a former Mjambere Councillor. After the second straight loss, she was nominated to parliament yet again by Uhuru's TNA party. In 2017, she joined the race for the Mombasa Women Representative seat on a Jubilee Party ticket. She lost to ODM's Asha Hussein Mohamed- Ashu, an experienced political debutante. With her name missing in the Jubilee nomination list, Abdalla will not be in Parliament for the first time in 15 years.
