A cross section of Nakuru residents has criticised the recently appointed members to cabinet secretary positions by President Uhuru Kenyatta.
Those opposed claim that the president is ignoring the county.
The residents pointed out that Uhuru had deliberately refused to offer any important leadership position to anyone from the region.
“Nakuru has not had any Cabinet Secretary in this government and in the last regime prompting us to query the relationship between the resident and the people involved,” said Mohammed Hamisi, a youth leader.
Hamisi pointed out that the area, despite being an important political zone, had often been neglected when it came to powerful positions.
“Why could he not appoint the National Transport Safety Authority Chairman Lee Kinyanjui as the Minister of roads? Yet what he is doing to retain safety and control road carnage in the country is remarkable,” he added.
His views were echoed by Esther Kimani who cited that the move was a clear indication that the president could not trust the leadership mandate to people from the area.
“We have some of the best doctors and engineers in the county and yet they could not be given even the important dockets like health or energy,” she added.
They were speaking to the press at Rhonda area on Wednesday during a youth meeting where they called on the President to reconsider his list.
“We feel left out despite the fact that we voted as a block for him to become president,” said Josephine Kanyi.
