Lawyer Donald Kipkorir has questioned the credibility of the prestigious award recognizing President Uhuru Kenyatta as the most democratic leader in Africa.
President Kenyatta was accorded the democracy prize for demonstrating a true spirit of democracy by the Mandela Institute.
According to the institute, Kenyan Head of State had shown an incredible stand for democracy when he accepted the Supreme Court of Kenya to annul his August 8 victory.
Through his twitter handle, the lawyer noted that he could not access any biological information of the founder of the Mandela institute. Mr. Kipkorir went ahead to question if he was a fraudster.
“So-called Mandela Institute of Paris has ‘given’ leadership awards to African leaders including our President, Pierre Nkurunziza & the Zimbabwe Army! I have searched online the bio-data of the institute’s Founder & president Paul Kananura & is unavailable. Who is he? Fraudster?” Kipkorir posted on his twitter page.
Tanzanian president John Pombe Magufuli beat other 4955 applicants, including the African richest Monarch, King Mohammed VI of Morocco, to bag the award for what the jury of the controversial Paris-based Mandela Institute termed as his immense contribution to the promotion of peace and social equality in his country.
