The National Government will support Nyandarua to end the County's marginalisation, President Uhuru Kenyatta has vowed.
Speaking when he visited Shamata Ward in Ndaragwa Sub-County on Saturday 7th 2017, the Head of State said now is the time for Nyandarua to reap the full promise of devolution."I am satisfied with Nyandarua peoples' choice of leaders during the August 8, 2017 polls, especially Governor Francis Kimemia," he said.He promised to work closely with the Governor to lift Nyandarua from years of underdevelopment."I want to assure you that from today, Nyandarua shall have two Governors starting with me then Governor Kimemia. I shall work very closely with him to ensure Nyandarua rises again," said President Kenyatta.He said electricity and road projects, especially from Maili Kumi to Shamata, would kick off next week. The President also said Nyandarua's much-awaited university will have its main campus at Kapteni, in Ol'Kalou Sub-County. "A subsidiary for the same shall be located at Oljoro-orok Agriculture Training College to start with. Enrollment shall start early next year," he said.The President assured Shamata residents that he shall have a sit-down with all elected leaders to plan on laws to curb potato packaging that has for long adversely affected the industry.The Head of State also assured Ndaragwa residents that dams shall be constructed in the largely arid Sub-County."We shall build two dams, Upper Pesi and Lower Pesi, to benefit residents of Nyandarua and Laikipia counties," he pledged.Shamata Girls students, who were also at the meeting, received Sh10 million from President Uhuru for construction of a school laboratory and a borehole.The Head of State announced that Nyandarua will have an additional five districts to ease public administration and service delivery. "I will make a point of coming to Nyandarua every three months," he concluded.Deputy President William Ruto too added has Jubilee plans to set up a potato factory in the County that will add value to the product which is the main farm produce from the area.Governor Kimemia thanked the Head of State for his goodwill and pledged to continue mobilising public support for him ahead of this month's repeat presidential election."You are our partner in development. We will stand with you, he saidPresident Uhuru Kenyatta who was accompanied by his Deputy William Ruto dismissed opposition's plan of inciting"His focus is organising protests and calling for press conference to incite violence," said the President."Looting, mass action and violence against women is not the way to go" he added.President Kenyatta said Jubilee party would not engage in out-dated politics but instead it will focus on nurturing more youth to ascend to power.Deputy President Ruto echoed the President’s sentiments saying, "He is calling for mass action to incite violence so that he can get to power through the back door.""There is no other way of getting to power, it is only through the votes of citizens," he added.The Deputy President said Jubilee will defeat NASA the same way it did in the August 8th polls.The Deputy questioned Mr Raila's commitment to democracy since he is always fighting constitutional bodies.He asked: "What kind of Democrat are you if you are opposed to everything?"The Deputy President said Jubilee defeated NASA with 1.5 votes in the August polls and called on the voters to turn out in large numbers and ensure Jubilee wins the October fresh presidential polls with a wider margin of 4 million votes.
