Viewed as the move to stabilise Jubilee party throughout the country, the move did not go down well with affected MPs notably Silas Tiren (Moiben) and Alfred Keter (Nandi Hills).

The two MPs soldiered on despite an order from above to have them relinquish Agriculture and Labour committees respectively.

And the Moi University don says the move could course rift between Rift Valley MPs and those from Central thus sabotaging Ruto's bid.

"He should have not rushed to interfere with that. You saw the dissent the decision met from Rift Valley and this is not healthy for Jubilee survival.

"Ideally, you will see a conflict of interest with Rift Valley MPs accusing Uhuru of sabotage. Equally, those from central would think they are after tainting Uhuru's legacy, a reason that should worry Jubilee," he says.

Already, a section of Rift Valley MPs have criticised Uhuru's tactics of using police to silence critics, days when Keter was arrested over alleged fraud.

Cherangany MP Joshua Kutuny was more categorical when he warned Uhuru that 'Rift Valley was watching', another indication of a possible tough battle ahead in Jubilee.
