The Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Keriako Tobiko has recommended for the prosecution of Sports and Culture Cabinet Secretary Hassan Wario following the 2016 Rio fiasco.
Tobiko also wants Principal Secretary Titus Ekai to face corruption charges and abuse of office following the loss of close to Sh200 million allegedly lost during Rio De Janeiro's Olympic games in August.
The DPP has been investigating the fiasco following complaints by athletes, and members of the public.
At one point, they called for the resignation of Wario and top National Olympic Committee of Kenya (Nock) officials, led by chairman Kipchoge Keino.
''In the inquiry file it is alleged that Dr Wario... directed that six persons, namely Monica S Sairo, Richard Abura, Kerich Eunice, Singh James Gitau, Njuguna Samuel and Adan Omar Enow, who were not in the list approved by the steering committee, be included as part of the Kenya delegation, causing the ministry to incur additional cost of Sh2,990,286 on air tickets and Sh3,600,000 on allowances,'' said Tobiko, in the recommendation file to the DCI boss Ndegwa Muhoro.
He on Tuesday, said as the accounting officer at the Ministry, Ekai failed to inform that the allowances exceeded the Salaries and Remuneration Commission (SRC) guidelines.
If charged, there is a possibility that Wario and Ekai will be forced to step aside to clear their names.
They add up to the numbers of President Uhuru Kenyatta's cabinet members to face corruption allegations.
Other CS's who left office over graft claims include: Charity Ngilu (Lands), Michael Kamau (Transport), Kambi Kazungu (Labour), Felix Koskei (Agriculture), and Davis Chirchir (Energy).
