President Uhuru Kenyatta congratulates Anne Waiguru at a past event. [Photo/the-star]President Uhuru Kenyatta's campaign caravan received cold reception in one of it perceived stronghold, Kirinyaga county. This is after politicians from the county boycotted the launch of the president's election campaigns on Saturday. The caravan was led by Murang'a Governor Mwangi wa Iria. The residents demanded to know why their elected local leaders were not included in the campaign team."We have elected leaders here in Kirinyaga. Why are they not part of this team if you are genuine? We cannot see even a single MCA who is to introduce you people to us since you are strangers," an angry resident is quoted by the Star. The daily further reports that a section of residents expressed disappointment that a group christened 'Jubilee Nation' could not involve locals terming their move as disrespectful.Wa Iria was forced to explain to the agitated crowd that he was only seeking votes for Uhuru in the upcoming October 17 repeat presidential election.According to Kerugoya MCA James Murango, no local leader was informed of the caravan."I have talked to the Governor [Anne Waiguru] and all elected MPs and no one is aware of that caravan," Murango noted.
