The Jubilee Party is facing a political storm in Mombasa County over alleged mismanagement of campaign funds. The differences among the leaders are threatening the unity of the party in the county following President Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy William Ruto’s win in the October 26 repeat presidential results.A section of leaders in the county has accused former Mombasa gubernatorial candidate Suleiman Shabhal, his running mate Anania Mwaboza and Jomvu politician Karisa Nzai of allegedly mismanaging the funds meant to facilitate Jubilee’s campaign in the region.Addressing journalists in Mombasa, the leaders, led by former Likoni MP Masoud Mwahima, former Nyali MP Aspirant Ashraf Bayusuf, former Mvita MP aspirant Mohamed Tenge and former Women rep aspirant Amina Abdalla, claimed that Uhuru performed poorly in the county in the repeat polls because the funds were not utilised in running a vigorous campaign.Mwahima said Likoni only received Sh2 million instead of the Sh4 million that each of the six constituencies in the county was supposed to receive.“I was supposed to receive Sh4 million to campaign in Likoni but I only received 2 million which was not enough to ferry Jubilee supporters to polling stations,” said Mwahima, as quoted by Baraka FM. The leaders have now asked Shahbal, Mwaboza, and Nzai to account for the funds. The three are yet to respond the claims.
