Jubilee Party aspirants who failed in April’s party primaries have formed a lobby to champion the re-election of President Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy William Ruto.
The group dubbed ‘Uhuruto Express Team’ is composed of Jubilee MPs who failed in nominations but opted not to vie as independent candidates.
The group leader Kigumo MP Jamleck Kamau said the members have put behind the bitter memories of the nominations and they are now focusing on campaigning for their party leader President Kenyatta.
“We have decided to put our personal interests aside and look at the bigger picture which is the Presidency. That is why we have teamed up to support President Uhuru Kenyatta in these campaigns,” Kamau was quoted by the People Daily.
The MP was speaking in Miharati town, Kipipiri constituency after the group attended a Sunday service at the local PEFA Church.
Some of the legislators forming UhuRuto Express Team include; Nelson Gaichuhie (Subukia), Samuel Gichigi (Kipipiri), Stephen Mburu (Kinangop), Mary Wambui (Othaya), Njogu Barua (Gichugu) and Njoro’s MP Joseph Kiuna.
Other lawmakers are John Kihagi (Naivasha), Cecily Mbarire (Runyenjes), Esther Gathogo (Ruiru), Mathenge Nderitu (Gilgil) and Nakuru Women’s Representative Mary Mbugua.
The team has been criss-crossing various parts of the country urging the people to come out in large numbers to vote for the Head of State in the August 8th general election.
