Despite ongoing election petition on election of Governor John Nyagarama of Nyamira, petitioner Walter Nyambati has hit on campaign trails before the outcome.
Judge James Makau had ordered recount and vote scrutiny in 90 polling stations on Monday, a process that is set to end next week.
But Nyambati, a close ally of President Uhuru Kenyatta and Jubilee chief campaigner has already rolled out his campaign machinery with hope of a by election.
"I am ready to serve the people of Nyamira once elected. We cannot allow primitive leadership that robes innocent citizens," he told his supporters in Kisii Town.
He further said: "The court will give us victory that we deserve and there is nothing to worry about."
For the better part of Thursday, IEBC Nyamira offices were heavily guarded by supporters allied to Nyagarama on grounds that Nyambati was planning to compromise officials.
During the August elections, Nyagarama was pronounced winner having garnered over 63, 000 votes to Nyambati's 59, 000.
