John Akama, the Kisii University Vice Chancellor, will after all continue serving the institution despite earlier contractual crisis.
Last week, Akama was one of several dons who had been rejected by the ministry of education, which ha reportedly initiated radical surgery in institutions of higher learning.
And former student leader now nominated MCA in Nyamira Fredric Mosiori, confirmed that President Uhuru Kenyatta may have intervened to save the long serving don.
"I want to thank the president for urgent intervention. The institution still needs Akama to prosper.
"The little period he has been in office, we have seen tremendous improvement in terms of quality education and infrastructure," said the former leader.
Sources intimate that Akama's survival was reached after a section of powerful politicians from Kisii protested the decision by the ministry to dismiss his contract renewal.
Throughout 2017 campaigns, Akama spearheaded Jubilee campaigns both in Kisii and Nyamira Counties where the president scored fairly well.
