United Democratic Movement presidential candidate Philip Murgor wants Kenyans soldiers to be withdrawn from Somalia.
He instead said the troops should be deployed to man the borders and create a buffer against the Al Shabaab militant group.
“Kenya cannot defeat al Shabaab on its own but we can help stay the tide of their attacks on us if the soldiers were deployed to secure the borders,” he said
He also cited lack of political goodwill as hindering the war on graft.
He said President Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy William Ruto should take responsibility for failing to curb sleaze saying they had failed to set the pace when they ascended to office.
“In is uncommon that people can get inspired by leaders who don’t inspire them, “he said.
He said low voter registrations being experienced in the ongoing massive voter enlisting exercise in the country was a demonstration that Jubilee is losing grip.
He said his government will focus on social revolution by empowering the poor.
Regarding the failure of Foreign Minister Amina Mohammed’s failure to clinch the African Union post, Mr Murgor said there is need for the country to retrace its steps and seek to improve ties with its neigbours.
“The leadership is talking to itself, its clapping at itself and thinks that we deserve to be at the centre of continental leadership. We must look outward and create bridges with the rest otherwise we are losing,” Murgor said.
Murgor, will be facing opposition candidate from the National Super Alliance, President Uhuru among other candidates during the August 8th polls.
