President Uhuru Kenyatta cousin Ngengi Muigai has renewed fight over ordered eviction from a Sh3 billion coffee estate that Kenya Commercial Bank (KCB) sold 20 years ago.
Barely a month ago, the businessman lost a prolonged ownership contest of the 443-acre of coffee estate with the lender at the Appeals court.
Court of Appeal judges; Roselyn Nambuye, Milton Makhandia and Kathrurima M’inoti found that it was in the interest of justice that the matter is laid to rest since the matters relating to the case had been arraigned in different courts.
On January 10th however, Mr Muigai his Muiri Coffee Estate filed for an appeal seeking to block his eviction from the farm on grounds that the High Court had issued an eviction order based on an application that the Court of Appeal had dismissed.
Uhuru’s cousin bought the coffee estate from KCB in 2007 at Sh70 million, the farm is estimated to be currently valued at Sh3 billion.
In all the 14 suits filed over the disputed multi-billion farm since 1992 have been ruled in favor of KCB.
Mr Muigai now claims that Bidii Limited, which had bought the land from KCB, had obtained the orders of vacant possession and eviction.
