President Uhuru Kenyatta should be worried of the recent appeals court decision to uphold High Court’s ruling on counting of presidential votes, says Kuresoi MP Zakayo Cheruiyot.
The ruling now vests powers on Constituency Retuning officers to make last pronouncement of presidential results.
And Cheruiyot, a long term from of President Kenyatta, says the ruling favours opposition due to the traditional rigging methodology used by incumbents.
“Sometimes we should be honest to ourselves. The ruling means there will be transparency and accountability in polls.
“Incumbents have been abusing national tallying officials and this makes it difficult for them. I think Raila Odinga should now get ready to serve as president,” he said.
Opposition NASA through lawyer James Orengo had moved to court to block National Chairman for IEBC from being allowed to be the final determinant of election results from constituencies.
Cheruiyot had fallout with Jubilee administration and is defending his seat on Chama Cha Mashinani party associated with Bomet Governor Isaac Rutto.
