Sam Ongeri says opposition leader Raila Odinga’s victory in August elections is ‘inevitable’ given the ‘mood’ on the ground.

Odinga is set to face Jubilee’s Uhuru Kenyatta in yet another epic battle slightly over four years after facing each other in 2013.

But the former Kenyan ambassador to UN-Habitat says inability of the government to address corruption and high cost of living will precipitate Uhuru’s chances of serving as a one term president.

“The mood on the ground favours NASA and I am confident that Uhuru is headed home. If I were him I would have withdrawn from the race,” he said on Tuesday at Keumbu.

“Jubilee has failed to address high cost of living and rampant corruption. Services to ordinary people are negligible and this is an indication Kenyans are tired.

In a rather surprising move, Ongeri, a former ally of Kenyatta who campaigned for his election in 2013, dumped Jubilee party for ODM.

He is set to face Charles Nyachae (Jubilee) and Omingo Magara of PDP in Kisii senatorial contest, his second attempt after losing to Chris Obure.
