Cord leader Raila Odinga has accused and criticized the Jubilee government of lacking political goodwill to fight corruption in the country.
Raila claims that President Uhuru Kenyatta’s government is not serious in fighting graft which he claims is rampant.
The Cord leader says that Uhuru’s government has failed to put in place tough measures to combat corruption.
“Jubilee government has completely failed to tame corruption which is so rampant,” said Odinga when he addressed delegates during the 2nd Annual General meeting and conference of the African Organizations of Public Accountants’ committees at Safari Park Hotel in Nairobi on Tuesday.
Raila stated that for corruption to be tamed there must be goodwill from the top leaders.
He said that the opposition has approached the Uhuru government with options on how to tame graft but the government has been reluctant.
The Cord leader cited the National Youth Service (NYS) Sh791 Million theft scandal that led to resigning of former Devolution CS Anne Waiguru saying that it showed that Uhuru’s government has failed.
He also cited the Eurobond and the recent Rio games saga as scenarios where the government has failed to account for public funds.
Raila said that there is need for new approach in fighting graft and asked President Uhuru to listen to the views of other leaders and stakeholders in fighting corruption.
