Political analyst Nyachio Bogonko believes President Uhuru Kenyatta will yet again perform dismally following the appointment of renowned politicians from Gusii region in his 2017 presidential campaigns.
On Friday last week, Uhuru unveiled his campaign team with former CIC chair Charles Nyachae, Kisii Deputy Governor Joash Maangi, MP Jimmy Angwenyi, and JKF chair Walter Nyambati among the key point men who will spearhead campaigns in the vote-rich region.
And Bogonko during an interview with this reporter on Monday said the team will underperform due to mistrust from members of the public.
“President Uhuru has already messed himself in the Gusii region and I see him performing dismally. Appointing people who the public has no confidence in at all will cost him dearly and only time will tell,” he said.
“He used them in the Nyacheki ward by-election and they failed to deliver. We even saw members of the public turning against them and now you include them in the national campaign team. It’s disastrous and time has come for him to count elsewhere,” he added.
In Nyacheki the by-election in Kisii County that was held last month, a number of Uhuru’s point men faced public anger with some of them escaping beating from members of the public accusing them of auctioning the community.
