Political analyst and opposition alliance NASA member presidential campaign secretariat member Joseph Simekha has doubted President Uhuru Kenyatta's recent promise to maintain good relationship with opposition leaders saying that he holds no grudge against opposition supporters despite not supporting his re-election.
Speaking in an interview on Citizen TV Tuesday,Simekha said that the President has terribly failed to keep his promise saying that the complete opposite of his promise has been witnessed since he made it.
''He is purporting to extend a friendly hand to the opposition and its supporters yet the same hand is presiding over the harassment, beating and killing of protesting opposition supporters,'' said Simekha.
The President had said that he will embrace all elected leaders including those entering office on the NASA ticket and the NASA top leadership saying that their ideas would be needed to strengthen the nation and enhance oneness with Simekha now saying that that was one of his tricks to hoodwink the nation and portray a good image of himself in the Kenyans' eyes.
''How can you extend an olive hand when forces under your command are busy harming the very same people you are promising friendship?'' wondered Simekha.
This follows recent reports where several protesters were injured and others reportedly killed by the police while opposing Kenyatta's win in some parts of the nation. The President has since maintained that the protesters are free to demonstrate provided that they stick to the law.
He has also called upon the police to avoid using too much force while countering the same.
