President Uhuru Kenyatta captured his tribulation with the judiciary in his tribute message to the late Justice Joseph Onguto.
President Kenyatta said that the late judge always followed right process as per the evidence that was adduced before the court and without prejudice or favour. He added that he administred justice impartially.
“He understood what it meant to dispense justice without prejudice. He followed and practiced what was right as per the evidence adduced before the court,” he said in the message that condoled the late judge.
Since the annulment of the August 8th election, president Kenyatta's government has been leading a campaign against the judiciary in a view that the judiciary has been staging an opposition against his government.
In September last year, president Kenyatta had pledged in a meeting attended by Leaders elected on Jubilee party ticket in Statehouse Nairobi to ‘revisit’ the Judiciary after the annulment of the elections.
“Who even elected you?...We have a problem and we must fix it,” he said.
The remarks triggered wide spread condemnation and many urged him to avoid derogatory remarks as the head of state.
Justice Onguto collapsed and died after visiting a health club in Parklands Nairobi on Thursday night.
