Kenyatta has made several trips to the region since his election in 2013 in what is perceived to be a scramble for votes from the area that overwhelmingly voted for the opposition Cord and has also indicated a

Kiogoro MCA Samuel Apoko on Tuesday questioned the President’s trip saying his mission has never put the community interest first.

“I am not opposed to the president’s visit but I am worried that it’s political as usual. He has come here several times but the project he launches is imaginary and records can prove that,” he said.

“He is only aiming at looking for votes rather than bringing real development. He came in April this year and only re-launched roads that had been launched by the grand coalition government and subsequently stalled when Jubilee took over,” he added.

He challenged the president to pump resources to the coffee and tea sectors which he said that were at ‘dying’ stages in the region.

“If in deed he is coming, we don’t want sideshows. He should shun politics and have a serious delivery on coffee and tea sectors. We want him to deal with issues and not politics that we are used to,” he said.
