President Uhuru Kenyatta's lawyer has questioned Jubilee Party's approach to fix issues in the judiciary, saying the planned move to force out judges is counterproductive.
Senior Counsel Ahmednasir Abdullahi, who represented the president in last year's case against his reelection, admits that there are problems in the judiciary that needs to be addressed urgently.
"The judiciary has issues/problems that need urgent redress. But JUBILEE's approach is clumsy and counterproductive," the lawyer tweeted after reports emerged that the ruling party intends to intensify its attacks on judges who have not ruled in their favour.
When the supreme court nullified the August 8 election of President Kenyatta, Mr Ahmednasir declared that the court had made a political decision.
Last week, the Jubilee Party formally wrote to Chief Justice David Maraga to complain about the alleged bias in the decisions that courts have been making regarding the elections and the current political situation.
It followed the CJ's press statement in which he asked politicians obey court orders.
There has been speculation that Jubilee may force CJ Maraga out, since the president promised to revisit the controversial decision of the supreme court to nullify the election results.
