Renowned lawyer Ahmednassir Abdullahi has called on the government to change tact in how they deal with 'rogue' opposition legislators.
According to Abdullahi, quick arrests of the legislators and arraigning them in court does not solve repeat offenses.
In a tweet on Monday, Abdullahi reiterated that the only method to change the behaviour is through expesitious prosecution and subsequent conviction.
"The government of Kenya is quick to arrest rogue opposition Mps and arraign them in court. That isn't the solution for breaking the law. ONLY a robust and expeditious prosecution and subsequent convinction will change this wayward behaviour," tweeted Abdullahi.
The opposition, National Super Alliance (NASA), has been on the wrong side of the law enforcers after participating in the controversial swearing-in of Raila Odinga on January 30.
So far, two NASA legislators Ruaraka Mp TJ Kajwang' and Makadara Mp George Aladwa have been arrested in connection to the event.
National Resistance Movement (NRM) general Miguna Miguna haa also been arrested and taken in by law enforcers for questioning.
However, the country is yet to witness the conviction of a National Assembly member for any unlawful act committed as the cases mostly take long to be conducted and concluded.
