The appeal challenging election of Nyamira Governor John Nyagarama took a new dimension on Monday at Kisumu Appeal's Court following introduction of President Uhuru Kenyatta's lawyer, Fred Ngatia.

Petitioner Walter Nyambati of Jubilee had disputed an earlier decision by High Court that upheld Nyagarama's victory despite an admission of irregularities.

And Ngatia, who was introduced in the appeal whose presiding Judge is Simon Muhandia, poked holes in the results of 36 polling stations which had registered anomalies tallying up to 8,000 votes.

"For instance, in Iteresi polling station, the total number of registered voters is 300 yet the number of ballot papers used is 600 foils.

"Similarly, at Nyagokiania, the total number of registered voters is 400 but the turnout is 532. This is just an indication of massive irregularities," he protested.

In his submissions further, Ngatia said, Justice James Makau had admitted irregularities but dismissed the case on 'flimsy grounds'.

Nyagarama's defense team contested the 36 polling stations in question insisting that the petitioner had introduced new stations that did not feature in the High Court.

The closely contested August race saw Nyagarama defeat Nyambati by 6,500 votes. The final judgment will be made in July 26th.
