Nasa lawyer James Orengo addresses the media outside the Supreme Court on Friday, August 25, 2017 after filing an interlocutory application. [nation.co.ke]One of President Uhuru Kenyatta's lead counsels in the NASA Supreme Court petition which is challenging Uhuru's reelection, has rubbished Nasa lawyers' claims that they have a 'bombshell' on elections fraud.Lawyer Ahmednasir Abdullahi alias Grand Mullah, has said that NASA's petition is so weak and that 2013 petition was 1000 times better."From my readings of the petition filed by Hon Raila, I can sincerely say that his 2013 petition is 1000 times better conceptualized and stronger," Ahmednasir wrote on his Twitter account, Friday. This totally contradicts NASA's lead counsel James Orengo assertions on Friday that Nasa legal team has a bombshell and will demonstrate at the Supreme Court the magnitude of fraud committed during elections."We have a bombshell! In my many years of practice I have never seen such magnitude of forgery. A majority of IEBC papers are fake. They do not have security features required. We are justified on why we were worried by the manner elections were carried out," said Orengo outside the Supreme Court after filing an interlocutory application and made submissions in support of the petition. In the application, Nasa is seeking scrutiny and audit of the elections materials. The coalition had until 1pm to file the responses. IEBC Chairman Wafula Chebukati and President Uhuru Kenyatta on the other hand, had until 7pm Friday to file their submissions.IEBC has downplayed the NASA petition terming it as 'vague', "NASA's petition is based on generalities and misconceptions, and lacks particulars as required by law."The second phase begins at 7pm Saturday at the pre-trial conference.Court proceedings will start late because Chief Justice David Maraga, an Adventist, will be observing the Sabbath.
