Details have emerged that President Uhuru Kenyatta’s legal team performs a ritual every time they emerge victors in a case.
On Monday, minutes after the Supreme Court ruled to uphold Kenyatta's October 26 win, the team rushed to Westlands for the ritual.
The team that successfully argued for the dismissal of two cases at the Supreme Court headed to Consolata Shrine in Westlands for what lead lawyer Fred Ngatia said was a thanksgiving solemn.
The team said they wanted to thank God for the victory.
The soft spoken legal top gun said his team has been performing the ritual since 2013, when the Supreme Court dismissed another petition challenging Kenyatta’s win.
By then, the apex court was under the stewardship of Chief Justice Willy Mutunga.
Ngatia led about 15 lawyers, Kenyatta’s chief agent Davis Chirchir, Winnie Guchu and Mary Karen Sorobit, the legal affairs person in Jubilee to the shrine.
The prayers were led by Fr Evans who also urged Kenyans to pray for peace across the country.
“Do not be like the nine leapers who failed to come back to thank God,” the priest said as quoted by nation.
According to Nation, Ngatia, a Catholic, said he sought the intervention of Blessed Sister Irene Nyaatha, who assisted the poor in his native home of Nyeri.
