President Uhuru Kenyatta will not leave a lasting legacy if he fails to fight corruption in the country, a Senator has warned.
Makueni lawmaker Mutula Kilonzo Junior said graft was Uhuru's greatest impediment to his trademark Big Four Agenda and cautioned that it may remain a pipe dream if the Head of State does not slay corruption.
Mutula condemned the recent National Youth Service (NYS) Sh9.1 billion scam and asked Uhuru to deal ruthlessly with all those implicated as they were antagonising the future of the Kenya's young people.
"What we are seeing today is another mega scandal. In fact, the biggest corruption scandal in the country," he said.
The Wiper lawmaker added: "It is the youths who the President should bank his support on as he strives to drive his Big Four Agenda and leave a lasting legacy."
Mutula spoke on Sunday at Mombasa in the sidelines of the third Annual Legislative Summit that brought together MCAs and Senators.
He further asked the President to disband the NYS, suggesting it can placed at either Devolution, Youth or Sports ministry as a department.
"NYS has failed the country considerably and it is time it was disbanded. It is easy to manage NYS when it is under a ministry," Mutula observed.
