Football legend Henry Motego has faulted Jubilee administration for what her terms as ‘lack of respect’ to the soccer game in the country.

Kenya had her rights to host CHAN championship, 2018 edition stripped off by the Confederation of African Football over ‘unpreparedness’.

And Motego, a popular defender with Harambee Stars in 90s has taken a swipe on President Uhuru Kenyatta by accusing him of failing to ‘stand tall’.

“I believe we have facilities that could have been promptly renovated before next year and I think this is a major failure of Uhuru that could even make his rating low,” he said.

“He should have negotiated with the CAF and I know we may have still had the chance. It is a wasted opportunity that I will always blame the government.”

Deputy President William Ruto insisted that the decision was arrived at due to uncertainly in Kenya’s current political situation, dismissing claims that the country lacks proper infrastructure.

The continental competition was launched in 2013 with an aim of allowing local based footballers to showcase their talent at the continental level.
