During a meeting on Wednesday with the African Union, President Uhuru Kenyatta claimed that the opposition has planned to sabotage the upcoming August 8 elections.

President Kenyatta highlighted several examples of National Super Alliance leaders he believes has demonstrated their intentions ahead of the elections.

President Kenyatta accused the opposition of intending to create chaos and believes they do not plan on conducting a democratically fair election.

“We have persistently declared that we are ready to accept the will of the people, but the opposition adamantly refuses to submit itself to that commitment. The reason is simple. Subversion of the will of Kenyans,” he said as reported by the Daily Nation.

Mr Kenyatta told the African Union team, that NASA’s actions over the electioneering period are a clear indication of their true intentions.

“The responsibility of securing the elections and the country lies with the government,” said the President.

He further informed the AU officials that he has already compromised a lot however he will not compromise a change in the election date.
