President Uhuru Kenyatta has urged Chief Justice David Maraga to downplay criticism directed at the court especially from the politicians.

He has urged the judiciary to concentrate on service delivery for Kenyans, further noting that the courts have made good progress and indication that the country is on the right track.

“Without a doubt, it hurts business, delays growth and denies jobs. Equally, why exercising its mandate, the judiciary must be mindful of the effects of its actions and the other arms of government, and how it will affect the lives of other ordinary Kenyans,” said President Kenyatta.

“Any decision that negatively affects the desire of a better, prosperous life for the average Kenyans or their safety and their wellbeing, should be carefully investigated before being undertaken,”

Administration of justice should not be shrouded in intrigues that only a few understand, the citizenry should be fully engaged in it.

He acknowledged that it was right for any individual to criticize government offices, including his office.

He further advised the CJ to ‘grow a thick skin’ and only work to ensure they serve Kenyans in equal measure.

The court upheld Kenyatta’s win in the October 26 polls, with Maraga overseeing the swearing in of the president at the Moi Kasarani Stadium.
